Perched on a chimney's broken edge.
Dust in my skin, wind in my ribs.
The moon hangs low above the blocks.
White car in a silent sky.
I know you see the same pale light
From your warm and quiet cell.
Same moon over both our backs.
But night don't fall the same for us.
Under the same moon we stand.
Different roofs, different worlds.
Your world glows gold behind the glass.
Mine breathes smoke and rain.
Same sky pressing on our hearts.
No bridge across the dark.
You stretch in kitchen colored light.
Soft floors breathing under you.
I balance high on rusting wire.
Tar and gravel in my skin.
Under the same moon we stand.
Different roofs, different worlds.
Your life is warm and carefully held.
Mine howls against the wind.
Same moon, same silver scar.
Two worlds, no way to cross.
